Quality tiers (1K, 2K, 4K)
Three image quality tiers, each priced differently. Most production work happens at 2K. 1K is for ideation. 4K is for print and large-format display.
The three tiers#
- 1K (5 credits per image). The fastest. Best for mood-boarding and exploring directions.
- 2K (7 credits per image). The default for production. Sharp enough for most ads, social, and catalog use.
- 4K (16 credits per image). Print runs, billboards, retail signage, and zoom-heavy hero shots.
Tip: 2K beats 4K in most cases at less than half the credits. Try 2K first; reach for 4K only when the subject demands extreme detail.
When to skip 1K#
1K is fine for testing prompts and mood. Once you have a winner, run the same prompt at 2K for the deliverable. The composition will stay similar; the texture and detail jump up.
When 4K is worth it#
- Large-format print (billboards, retail signage, posters).
- Hero images that crop or zoom heavily.
- High-DPI screens at full bleed.
- Subjects with fine texture (jewelry, watches, fabrics, hair).
